Be Nimble: performers and artists
FERGUS EARLY- Jack Fergus began his dancing career with the Royal Ballet, later studying at the London Contemporary Dance School where he became a senior teacher. He was a founder member of X6 Dance Space and New Dance Magazine. In 1987, he formed Green Candle.The Company has won three Digital Dance Awards and was also awarded £250,000 from the National Lottery for a large-scale community project in the London borough of Islington, which included eight performances at the new Sadler's Wells Theatre in March 1999. Fergus is the winner of several awards, including a Greater London Arts Dance Award, a Lisa Ulman Travelling Bursary, and the Time Out/Dance Umbrella Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. ALBERTO RAMON - Musician Alberto is a flautist, singer, composer, sound engineer, music teacher and actor from Colombia . Alberto graduated in 1991 from CENSEA ( Cuba ) in Flute and Music. He plays frequently with the English-Latin band, Septeto Siboney and many other jazz, funk and reggae bands in London . In 2002 Alberto attended the Artists in Education Training Course run by the Lyric Theatre and Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre, through which he met Green Candle.
NINA AYRES - Designer Nina graduated in 1997 from Central School of Speech and Drama with a first class honours degree in Theatre Design. She works both as a maker and designer on productions as wide ranging as Sleeping Beauty for the Royal Ballet, Festival of the Sea , Portsmouth and International King of Sports for channel 5. This is the third Green Candle production that Nina has designed.
Kylie began training at Lewisham College going on to finish her studies at both the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and the Rotterdamse DansAcademie, Rotterdam . She remained in The Netherlands performing “Fortuna's Follies” with the “DDDD” touring company at the internationally renowned Dutch Parade as well as dancing in the “Companions” production of the Opera Rigoletto in 2001. In 2002 Kylie was a member of the original cast of “Animagique” for the opening of the new Walt Disney Studios, Paris, where she remained until 2004. Whilst in Paris she also performed for the children's charity “Restaurant du Coeur” before returning to England . Kylie joined Green Candle in January 2005 performing in their production of Listening Eyes. ROBERT NICHOLSON- Robert Robert trained at the London Studio Centre and toured with Intoto Dance Company performing works by Jean Abreu, Lisa Torum, Liz Lea and Michael Popper. After graduating in 2004 Robert has performed for contemporary dance companies such as LeaDance at the Royal Opera House and Pockets on Fire for Foot in Hand Dance Company. Robert has also performed in Resolutions! at The Place and The Big Mission at Birmingham Dance Xchange. Commercially Robert has performed in numerous pantomimes for Paul Holman Associates, the Wella Hair Show in Barcelona and was a featured dancer for Royal Caribbean International.
CHRIS LURCA - Stage Manager His first job as a stage manager was at the I.C.A. in London , with Beryl and the Perils . Since then he has toured extensively, working here and abroad both as stage manager and lighting designer, with such diverse talents as Welfare State International, The Phillip Morris Superband, Loose Tubes, Adzido, Scarabeus, Axis Mundi, Kali , and more lately Theatre and Beyond's production of Fire in the Fields . Says Chris: ‘I am pleased to be working with Green Candle Dance Company and its commitment against ageism.'
